About

Although Thalassa has only been around less than a decade, it has become a staple in Berkeley culture. Douglas Miller, current owner, bought a struggling Berkeley Billiards in 1998 with hopes of reviving the establishment and having it become more than just a Pool Hall.

One of the first things done was the reconstruction of the bar area. Linoleum floors became wood floors. Plain white walls became colorful walls with paintings, decorations, and character. Pool tables were added and properly maintained and most importantly, the bar staff was friendlier than ever.

After much change both superficially and internally, Thalassa has become one of the best places to play a game of pool, have a drink, find that special someone, or just have that bartender who will lend you an ear.
